One day, the group was attacked by the Earth Military organization Gjallarhorn, which aims to stop the Martian independence movement. During the attack, the leader of the children and the Third Army Division within CGS, Orga Itsuka, decides to rebel against the adults and higher-ups who had escaped and left the children and foot-soldiers to remain and fight as decoys. One Punch Man

The story takes place in the fictional Japanese metropolis of City Z. The world is full of strange monsters that mysteriously appear and cause disasters. Saitama, the protagonist, is an exceptionally powerful hero who easily defeats the monsters or other villains with a single punch. However, due to his overwhelming strength, Saitama has become bored with his powers and is constantly trying to find stronger opponents who can fight him.
On his adventures, he meets new friends, enemies, and his own disciple, the cyborg Genos, and joins the Heroes Association in order to gain fame for all of his efforts to defeat evil. Despite defeating many strong monsters that even the Heroes Association’s top members are unable to defeat, Saitama struggles to gain respect. Most people look down on him due to his plain physical appearance, and some accuse him of being a counterfeit hero. Only a small number of individuals recognize his incredible talent and humility towards others.
Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen)
Genres: Action, Sci-fi
While all of the shows on this list are great, this stands show stands out as the best of the season. The imaginative world of Blood Blockade Battlefront takes place in New York City, but the city’s role of a melting pot is amplified tenfold when demons, monsters and otherworldly beings are thrown into the mix after a mysterious portal opens. Though most of the population has assimilated well, the secret, superhuman organization Libra works in the shadows to keep peace in the city.
Each episode of Blood Blockade Battlefront is always a joy to watch with its lovable characters, beautifully animated fights, and monsters of the week. Even better is Blood Blockade Battlefront’s wild pacing, that while still fun, is also always careful to slowly and precisely drip in the overarching plot.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma
Genres: Comedy, Ecchi
Food Wars takes the notion of food porn to many, many different levels. Soma Yukihira is a young chef who works with his dad in their family diner. When his father unexpectedly closes the diner, Soma is sent to the top cooking academy in Japan. Soma vows to become the top chef in the school and to beat his father in a cookoff. While training, Soma is challenged to push his limits of creativity and knowledge of food chemistry to overcome a variety of challenges. The food always looks amazing, and based off the characters’ reactions when they eat it — clothes go flying as the characters are in pure bliss and often times surrounded by the heavenly food — it must be pretty delicious. The ecchi scenes don’t feel like they’re shoehorned into the amazing cooking displays, but instead add to the fun of the show.
Genres: Slice of Life
After swearing off music due to an incident at the middle school regional brass band competition, euphonist Kumiko Oumae enters high school hoping for a fresh start. As fate would have it, she ends up being surrounded by people with an interest in the high school brass band. Kumiko finds the motivation she needs to make music once more with the help of her bandmates, some of whom are new like novice tubist Hazuki Katou; veteran contrabassist Sapphire Kawashima; and band vice president and fellow euphonist Asuka Tanaka. Others are old friends, like Kumiko’s childhood friend and hornist-turned-trombonist Shuuichi Tsukamoto, and trumpeter and bandmate from middle school, Reina Kousaka.
However, in the band itself, chaos reigns supreme. Despite their intention to qualify for the national band competition, as they currently are, just competing in the local festival will be a challenge—unless the new band advisor Noboru Taki does something about it.
From the studio that animated Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Kyoto Animation’s Hibike! Euphonium is a fresh and musical take on the slice-of-life staple that is the high school student’s struggle to deal with their past, find romance, and realize their dreams and aspirations.
